Coaching has the potential to change someone’s life for the better dramatically. Not everyone would agree that they need coaching. I’ve met many people who say that they don’t need coaching.
However, I would say that when the person is ready, life coaches will start to show up. Coaching can impact the person looking for when it comes to a better life, better relationships, and overall sense of self.

The conversation I’ll be having will be from experience. I have been doing some form of personal growth and development and have had mentors and life coaches who have helped me change my life. I’d say it took an army of them to get to where I am today.
The great thing about personal growth is that it never ends. You continue to grow and evolve if you choose to do so.
What Are Some Benefits Of Having A Coach?
Whether it’s improving your bottom line or improving your “Tinder Swindler” selections, having a life coach may benefit you. If they’re good, they’ll be able to illuminate those darkest parts of you. You’ll have nowhere to hide, and you’ll have to confront the factors of you that are causing your mental anguish, and you’ll pay good money for it too.
You didn’t expect fluff, did you? I hope not. When it comes to life coaching, most of it seems like you’re going through the eye of the needle. At least, that’s what it felt like for me and many others who have taken similar courses with me.
But it’s no different from other coaches. These sports coaches are not usually consoling a player; they’re generally yelling at the player during the game or practice. If you’ve been around Pop Warner football coaches, they will make those kids run in the sun or in the rain (as long as there hasn’t been any lightning for some time).
This whole time the parents watch and sweat, wishing they had 1/4 of the energy and stamina these kids have. Those coaches will yell and scream at your kids, and at the end of practice, the crazy part is kids are so thankful to that coach.
The Coaching Industry
Life coaching is similar to the scenario I described earlier, except they won’t make you perform drills or run miles unless your coach is David Goggins. Most of them would not yell at you, but they will call you out.
Have you ever been called out as an adult? They might as well be yelling at the teenager trapped in that body. Nonetheless, a great coach will choose to see your potential and decide to speak to that part of you seeking growth. Successful life coaches are not stopped by what their clients complain about during the coaching program. They know it’s part of the coaching process.
Think Tony Robbins.
Although I’ve not taken any of his courses, he’s well known enough for people to know he’s not fluffy.
Whether you want to change your career, leave your current job, own a business, or want your own life to improve in every area that matters to you, having a life coach can prove helpful.
What Kind Of Coaching Is Right For Me?

There are many types of coaches out there. I’ve met many different styles, from dating coaches to business mentors. For the most part, many people will say that they need a coach to help them develop core skills that they think might be missing. You may want to build your communication skills or help you focus more on the things you want.
Maybe you might want to have more confidence. Perhaps you want to change your career and start your own business but are scared and unsure. Or perhaps you want to be connected again to something you were once passionate about.
It’s Not Always About The Money
For me, it started as making more money. What I ended up getting was better relationships because, in my heart, it was what I wanted. I developed a healthier relationship with myself that ultimately led to a better relationship with others.
Not everyone will admit that the first thing they want or even need coaching with is to have better relationships. Trust me, when the coaching program is good, and the life coach knows what they’re talking about, everything in your life levels up.
So know that whichever one you want to start with, know that it will make a difference in many areas of your life.
Life Coaching And Coaching Process
Coaching programs are usually centered around growth and personal development. The only way for a person to get better is to develop themselves to succeed. Now, there are many different types of coaches.
Some of the coaches I’ve had are in the fitness, modeling, and, of course, personal development industry. Some have helped me in the past, and others have continually helped me until today.
It’s A Major Decision
The first coach I had happened to be in this leadership development program. I had completed their primary curriculum, and I saw what was possible with my life. They had a leadership course and decided to take it. It was an incredible experience.
I ended up turning my life inside out. I saw the best and worst parts of me. It helped me change the way I saw situations. I developed a new relationship with myself which made my relationships with others change.
I would say that, as difficult as it was for me, it was one of the best things I’ve done for myself. Not only did I benefit from it, but my involvement in the coaching program has impacted the people around me as well.
Looking back, I felt bad for my coaches. I am sure that I had them question themselves and their coaching skills. I would not want to coach me. Let’s put it that way.
Life Coach Training Is Just Another Name
In my opinion, life coaching is just another name for having a personal development coach. When I was in training with my mentor Bob Proctor, someone had asked how personal development is similar to business mentorship. I’ll never forget his response.
He said that if you upgrade your life, your business life will also upgrade because there’s only you running your business. It makes absolute sense, right?
It is easy to understand these statements conceptually. I know I nodded my head as if I already knew that, but it’s only until your results have changed that you genuinely know your life had changed as well.
That’s where your coach will go to work. They will be looking at your results with you.
Coaching Skills That Break Walls
With the ease of internet access, anyone can have their businesses, and there have been many people to open their own coaching business. Finding the right coach with the right coaching skills or just the coach that you resonate with can be time-consuming, but it will be detrimental to your success if you don’t find one that was a great fit.
Let’s say you had a goal of making X amount of money. A great coach will ask you why that is important to you and may even challenge you to see if this is a goal that you want. Also, a great coach will not just work with everyone.
They want to help and support potential clients who are ready to succeed. Most seasoned coaches can sense whether or not the person is prepared to take action but need a little support. It is always up to the person to determine whether they are ready.
How To Find The Right Mentor

The first thing you have to find out is whether or not you are coachable, meaning you can allow people to help you. If the answer is no, then no amount of coaching with the most famous personal development coaches out there can help you, and from the bottom of my heart, I wish you good luck.
Remember when I said I felt terrible for my first coaches? While I was ready to change my life, I was constantly in and out of being coachable, and man, looking back, I’m sure they saw me as a bratty teenager who threw tantrums every time I got hurt or did not get my way.
Now that we got that out of the way ask yourself what you want. If your first instinct was to say more money, ask why money? The truth is, while having money can certainly make your living circumstances better, it doesn’t always equate to happiness. So really dig deep.
If you’re already in a great place and want to expand your business, then looking for a business mentor would be the right fit. The right coach will show up.
Personal Trainers Are Coaches Too
I am lucky to have a personal trainer who also happens to be my friend. When I said I wanted more money, I truly meant to be more confident. Somehow, I had my wires crossed and thought that having more money meant that you would be more confident.
When I got to be honest with myself, I was extremely unhappy with how I looked. I didn’t feel healthy or felt confident. When I said I wanted to lose weight and look a certain way, my trainer showed up in my life.
To this day, she continues to push me to become a better version of myself. She is passionate about helping women achieve a healthy lifestyle. Although her training is specifically fitness-related, she has helped me change the way I see myself to have the body that I truly want. Now, those are what I call gains!
Personal Growth Is Challenging
You can almost guarantee yourself that anything that creates the life you want with the support of a coach will be challenging. The process may be simple, but the work itself may have you questioning what you signed up for on earth.
To put it in a different perspective, say you want to start lifting weight to gain muscles, and you hired a trainer for that. They will start you off with something challenging and will continue to add pounds to the barbell. Within a month, you will be lifting heavier from where you started.
To gain muscles, you add more weight, reps, or both. This is similar to how sessions with a coach. They will give you advice insight and even show you what next steps to take. Ultimately, you have to do the heavy lifting. Nothing happens until you take action.
Life Coach Training Is A Continuous Process
So when you ask yourself, “Is coaching right for me?” or you’re starting to look around for different coaching services that you might benefit from, first find out whether you want to change or even be coachable. If you said yes, determine what it is you want. Focus on what will make a difference in your current situation if it is changed.
Then ask yourself, before you spend a lot of money, are you willing to do the necessary work it takes to succeed. It will be harder to achieve if you’re unsure, no matter how many coaching sessions you have.
Your coaches are there to help you change the way you’re thinking, help you move through fear, give you insights and help you gain confidence to lead yourself to achieve whatever it is you want to accomplish.
With support from your coach, you can make things happen for you and even impact the lives around you. You can create the life you want and achieve the kind of success in your life that will genuinely make a difference for you.
Take Control Of Your Own Life

No matter where you are right now in life, you have the ability to change the direction of its course if you want different results. The right coach and mentor will be there to support you when you are ready to do so. But first, make a decision that you are primed for change.
